Anime with great protagonists who aren't overpowered from the start?

I'm looking for anime where the main character genuinely grows and develops their skills over time, rather than being instantly powerful. Something like early My Hero Academia or Haikyuu!! where effort pays off. Any recommendations for strong character development arcs?

Black Clover is a classic example! Asta starts with literally no magic and works his butt off to become strong. Very inspiring!

Re:Zero's Subaru is probably the best example of a protagonist who starts weak and has to learn and suffer a lot to grow. His mental development is amazing.

Attack on Titan's Eren Yeager undergoes massive growth, both physically and psychologically, throughout the series. It's a huge journey.

Welcome to the NHK! features a protagonist who struggles with social anxiety and depression, and his journey of trying to overcome it is very raw and real. Not action-based, but huge growth!

Dr. Stone focuses on Senku, who uses his intellect rather than physical strength to rebuild civilization. It's a different kind of 'power,' but he definitely grows in leadership and influence.
