Kaiba by Masaaki Yuasa is incredibly unique. It has a distinctive, almost retro-futuristic, minimalist style that perfectly complements its philosophical themes. A true arthouse anime gem.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica! The art style for the witch labyrinths is unlike anything else. It's surreal, unsettling, and beautiful. The contrast with the cute character designs is genius.
Tatami Galaxy and its sequel Tatami Time Machine Blues, also by Yuasa! The rapid-fire dialogue and unique, slightly distorted art style are instantly recognizable. You'll be mesmerized.
Ping Pong the Animation! Another Yuasa masterpiece. The animation is incredibly fluid and dynamic, capturing the intensity of the sport with a truly unique visual flair. So much energy!
Land of the Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni) is CG, but it's done so incredibly well! The gem characters are stunning, and the action sequences are breathtaking. It's one of the best uses of CG in anime.
