I’ve watched almost every anime I wanted to… what TV show should I try?

Okay, I think I've finally reached the point where I need to admit defeat 😂

I've watched pretty much every anime I've been interested in at this point, including a lot of older stuff that I had sitting on my watchlist forever.

So I figured I'd take a break from anime and finally give TV shows a proper chance.

What TV show would you recommend to someone who mostly watches anime?

I'm not really looking for something just because it's popular. Give me something you genuinely think is worth watching — great characters, good story, strong worldbuilding, mystery, psychological stuff, fantasy, crime, whatever.

Ideally something that actually gets better after a few episodes and isn't just carried by one good season.

Bonus points if you tell me WHY you recommend it instead of just dropping the title. 😄

I've already heard of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, etc., but haven't properly watched most of them.

Convince me.

I'm going to be the annoying guy and say The Sopranos.

Neon Kitsune

If you enjoy anime like Steins;Gate, Monster, or anything involving time travel, mystery and complicated timelines, watch Dark.

Grace

100% Peaky Blinders, Great atmosphere, great soundtrack, memorable characters, gangs, politics, betrayal...

Golden Hunter

The Last of Us, Even if you've never played the games, it's worth watching. The relationship between the two main characters is the biggest reason I'd recommend it.

Silent Hunter

I'm surprised nobody has said Arcane yet, Technically animated, but if you're trying to branch out from anime, this is probably the easiest transition.

Neon Hunter

Try Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Grace

Dexter, Serial killer who works for the police as a blood-spatter analyst.

I'm going to recommend Lost, Yes, it's old. Yes, people will argue about the ending forever, But the mystery and “I need to know what happens next” feeling is ridiculously addictive.

Azure Blade

Watch Hannibal, Beautiful cinematography, psychological horror, disturbing characters and some genuinely insane dialogue.

Kaz

Black Mirror, Not one continuous story, so you can watch episodes whenever you want.

Frost Otaku

If you like Berserk, watch Vikings, Not the same story obviously, but the violence, politics, betrayals and character arcs scratched the same itch for me.

Chris

I'm going to recommend something less serious, The Office.

Golden Wizard

Based on your anime taste, I'd say The Leftovers.

Nathan

Narcos, Crime, cartels, politics, betrayal and some really good characters.

Honestly? Start with Breaking Bad. You've probably heard everyone recommend it a thousand times, but there's a reason. It's one of those shows where you finish an episode and immediately think “okay, just one more.”

Nova Spirit

I'm going to give you a challenge: Watch Breaking Bad → Better Call Saul → The Sopranos → Dark. That's my “welcome to TV” starter pack.
