CrossCode is incredible! It's a 2D action RPG that feels like a retro SNES anime game, but with super fluid combat and a surprisingly deep sci-fi story. Definitely check it out! 👍
Okami, while not strictly indie, often gets overlooked these days. It has such a beautiful cel-shaded art style that looks like a moving ink painting, very much like a classic Japanese animated movie.
'VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action' has a fantastic pixel art style and dialogue that feels straight out of a slice-of-life anime. It's a visual novel with great vibes.
I'd say 'Celeste' for its emotional storytelling and character development, even though it's a platformer. The way the characters overcome challenges feels very shonen-esque sometimes.
Haven't played it myself yet, but I've heard 'Cris Tales' has an amazing hand-drawn anime art style and a unique time-manipulation mechanic. It looks gorgeous!
